Apologises for the delay in getting back to you. Its took long that anticipated to gather information from Track Operators.
As a follow up to the Try the Track forum, I have now completed the actions that we discussed:
o This information is what has been provided to me by Track Operators – there maybe gaps however this gives a call overview of the current picture
o There appears to be lots of availability for Track usage
o Unless you pay for exclusive use of a Track, then you will be sharing with other track users. This may include other Athletics or Running Clubs as well as other sports/community groups.
o Each Track should have a Track Etiquette – it would be worth finding out about this and ensuring that your coaches and leaders understand this.
o Track facilities do need other user groups to help sustain the facility – it will be important that you work with others to ensure everyone has a positive experience
o The information is there now for your club to contact track operators should you wish to deliver Track based sessions – if you are having any challenges please let me know.
o As agreed I have now organised a Track Running session for Run Leaders & Coaches at Princess Mary Track on 2nd March 10 -1pm.
o This workshop is bespoke and has specifically been arranged on the back of the Try the Track Forum. Please can you ensure your leaders and coaches are aware of this workshop – I will send out to club secretaries but as it’s a bespoke workshop it will not appear in any EA comms (emails/social media). This will run with min 10 and max 24 leaders/coaches.
o Information on booking can be found here https://www.ulearnathletics.com/cpdEvent/88904
o Booking will close on 21st Feb, this will then give the tutor enough time to prepare the session plans
o I have received interested from one club on the clubrun programme so will be following that up with them direct
o Clubs expressed an interested in this programme to receive support at a club training session that could be delivered on a track (if the club decides)
o Information on clubrun can be found here https://www.englandathletics.org/clubs-and-facilities/
o Jason Newell from Spenborough provided information (thankyou!) click here
o It was decided wait until September to try this
o Clubs to contact EA if support is needed
o The Try the Track Forum was set up by request of clubs, please do let me know if there is other topics whereby you would like me to facilitate.
