Run Leeds

Run Leeds is the name we have given to Run England groups in Leeds.  All Run Leeds groups are led by UKA (UK Athletics) qualified and insured coaches.

There is a lot more information below, but if you just want to find a group near you click here for a List of all groups in Leeds .

The list shows whether the group is suitable for beginners, improvers or both.  Run England prefer to use the terms “Jogging” and “Running”, but think of the speed that Usain Bolt or Haile Gebrselassie go jogging and you’ll see that it doesn’t really help.   If you are in doubt whether you should be in a beginners or improvers group, then either try one that caters for both or click on our little guide – Beginner or Improver

Here’s a little history and some more information:

The original Run Leeds groups were started in March 2011 and based at running clubs.  The groups are aimed at beginners and improvers – some used to a long walk, some who jog a couple of times a week with friends and some who occasionally run races.  But the groups are separate from the club sessions and there is no pressure to join the “parent” club.  There are now 11 Run Leeds groups at clubs. For more information, click Run Leeds @ Clubs

New Run Leeds Groups are being set up in spring and summer 2012 as part of a wider project in Yorkshire and Humberside to bring 3,000 beginners and near beginners into running.  There are already over 20 groups set up, running in different locations and various times of the week.  Many leaders are running club members, others are health and fitness professionals.  Although run by individuals, there is a support network for the leaders organized by the Leeds Athletics Network.  For more information, click Run Yorkshire (& Humber) in Leeds - beginners groups led by UKA trained coaches!

Run Leeds also linked up with Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All to offer a combined package of training and race entry for the race in Leeds on 8 July 2012.  For more information, click Run For All package 2012 .  Although we have no formal arrangement in 2013, the leaders can advise their members on training and preparation for the Run For All and other local races.
