The Leeds Athletics Network Race Series 2012 is a “grand prix” style series of races including most races organized by Athletics Clubs in Leeds.

There will be around 16 races in the series, with distances varying from 1 mile to 10 miles, some road, some off-road.

The 2012 Series will be open to all residents of Leeds (within the Leeds City boundary) and, additionally, to all members of Athletics Clubs in Leeds.  (In future years, this may be expanded and open to all runners).

The 2012 Series will be free to enter (other than you need to pay the entry fee for each race!).  Registration will be available via one or more of the following methods

·         Clicking on the link at the bottom of this page

·         Ticking a box on a paper or online entry form

·         Filling in an entry slip at a race

Note that we will require name, address, club (if applicable) and date of birth.  Details will not be disclosed to any third party.

Overall series category placings will be decided according to the best 7 or 8 or 9 race scores (completion of half of the events).  Age groups will be according to the age at the start of the year 1 Jan 2012.

Categories are overall man, overall woman, and men and women in 5 year categories 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc

Proposed scoring system.  In each race, 1st man scores 1000, 2nd scores 999, 3rd scores 998 etc for overall award.  1st woman scores 1000, 2nd scores 999, 3rd scores 998 etc for overall award.  1st man in each age group scores 1000 etc for age-group award.  1st woman in each age group scores 1000 etc for age-group award.

All results / league tables will be published on the Leeds Athletics Network website.  We will be setting up a Facebook page available to open to all participants.

We will also be setting up an inter-club competition and we are also considering organizing a junior race series to start next September.
